Former Live Nation COO, John Probyn, is hoping to continue his involvement in a number of the promoter’s summer festivals.
Explaining his decision to join the NEC, where he will be COO of the Sports Show, which launches next June, after 14-years at Clear Channel/Live Nation, Probyn pointed to the amount of time he was spending away from home.
“Paul Thandi, CEO at the NEC Group, approached me about a couple of projects a while ago and the Sports Show just grabbed me. It leaves time to do other things as well and I’m going to talk to Live Nation about maybe helping out with one or two of the festivals I ran for them.”
With more than 25 different sports, including rugby, football, netball and athletics, available to try, and a number of sporting heroes on hand to share their expertise, the Sports Show promises to be a unique experience, on a grand scale.
“The ambition is to motivate a generation,” Probyn says. “There’s an incredible amount of space at the NEC and it will be about people coming along in their training shoes, ready to get involved. We’ll have high end live entertainment too and I’ll be contacting suppliers about that over the coming weeks and months.”

My kids are 15 and 13 now and I want to play a bigger part in their lives,” he tells EIN.
